Custom Kitchen Rug: Blue Mexican Tile

Custom Kitchen Rug

Last year I had posted about an interior designer from New York inquiring about one of my rug designs; she had ordered the Mexican tile design as a custom kitchen rug;  I had assumed it would be used for a Mexican décor project.

With all orders that are shipped outside of the country or where I wouldn’t necessarily have access to either delivering or installing a canvas rug, I typically request a photograph of the rug once it is placed in its new home. A couple of weeks ago, this same interior designer, Lisa, sent me a lovely note along with the photo of the Mexican tile rug  for what turned out to be a kitchen rug in a rather non Mexican décor.

As the photograph above shows (click on it to view full size – it will open in a new browser), this custom kitchen rug, really stands well with its custom blue color and  hand painted Mexican tiles boarder. With the mostly white cabinetry and appliances it adds not only color and design but gives the room a unique look. The wood side table and chair add a bit of whimsy to an eclectic decor. And the one wall painted blue ties the floor art together with the rest of the kitchen. Moreover, this custom kitchen rug fits almost as a full wall-to-wall floor covering; you can see in the photo that it was placed just under the refrigerator.

Customized Rug: Specific Color + Size

For a custom kitchen rug, I’d have to say this is one of my favorites. Although

the client had chosen one of my original designs, Mexican Tile, what made it a custom order was the specific blue used for the main color and a specific yellow around and within the painted tiles. It was also custom due to its size.

Creating a custom kitchen rug or a canvas rug for any room has its advantages over buying something off the rack, as they say.  Working with a client who has a vision to incorporating one of my canvas rugs with their interior design project is always a joyful experience.  Because, I LOVE what I do!  What do you think of this custom kitchen rug?

This is what I love about making custom canvas area rugs.T the client chose one of our designs and specified the color of blue and changed the color of “grout” around each tile to a bright yellow. Same design, totally different look for the canvas rug, and totally different look for the kitchen. A great solution for covering over old linoleum without tearing up the floor. Thanks so much for sharing your comments!

The great part is that the client can choose the perfect colors for her room. and I like to see how the design comes out with the different colors as well, it keeps it fresh and new. thank you for your comments!
